Chief Minister TR Zeliang on Saturday urged the people of Mokokchung to be more liberal in providing land for implementing developmental projects.
Addressing the 125th anniversary of Mokokchung Town at Imkongmeren Sport Complex here as the chief guest TR Zeliang said, “For the purpose of development we have to be liberal in providing our land to implement projects.”
He stated that the municipal affairs department is willing to take up some important projects in the district if people are liberal enough to provide land.
TR Zeliang then called upon the people of Mokokchung to bring corrective measures to protect rights and to uphold the dignity of the Naga people.
With regard to the poor economy of the state, the chief minister lamented that during 125 years of Mokokchung Town and 52 years of statehood “we still import many things from outside the state.”
“During these 125 years we should have been in the position that Naga people are now self sufficient,” he stated.
He then lauded the Mokokchung Entrepreneurs Consortium for promoting entrepreneurship venture among the youths by providing Micro Finance Initiative loans. Zeliang ensured that the government will provide support toward this endeavor under Chief Minister Corpus Fund.
Earlier, the chief minister released the jubilee souvenir and unveiled the jubilee monolith at P Shilu Park.
