Chief Minister TR Zeliang, who is currently in New Delhi, is busy meeting top Central leaders to draw their attention pertaining to the priorities for development of the State. After taking the over as the chief minister, Zeliang has embarked on an official trip to the national capital on June 5.
He met Union Minister for Civil Aviation P Ashok Gajapathi Raju in his office chamber on June 6 and apprised him about the State government’s proposal for construction of new Greenfield Airport at Ciethu and an international standard airport at Ruzaphema under Medziphema sub-division in Dimapur district. The Union minister had agreed in principle to send a survey team for this futuristic proposal. Zeliang was accompanied by former chief minister and Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio. The Chief Minister is scheduled to meet Union Finance Minister and Petroleum Minister on June 9 wherein he will brief them about the status of the State’s finances as well as the State’s policy and stand on exploration and development of oil and natural gas resources of the State in accordance with Article 371(A) of the Constitution. Exploration of oil and natural gas of the State had been a bone of contention between the DAN government of Nagaland and the UPA-II government at the Centre.
The chief minister is being accompanied by his Cabinet colleagues Home Minister Y Patton, Power Minister Kipili Sangtam, Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and Coordination Neiba Kronu and Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and I & PR Phaiwang Konyak.
On June 8, the Chief Minister and his colleagues will attend the swearing-in ceremony of Nara Chandra Babu Naidu as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh at Hyderabad. A special chartered plane has been arranged by the government of Andhra Pradesh for the two way journeys for them between Delhi and Hyderabad., Special Officer to the Chief Minister, Hiazu Meru said in a release today.
