
Dimapur, Sep. 5 (EMN): Advisor, Power, Tovihoto Ayemi, on Monday launched the Unified Rooftop Solar (RTS) portal in his office chamber at Civil Secretariat, Kohima.
A DIPR report stated that the advisor, Power, his speech said that towards implementation of the rooftop solar scheme, the department should reach out to all the citizens and ensure to provide quality facility.
Tovihoto also urged the department to create awareness that such facilities are available and people get the opportunity to avail the same.
He also appreciated the Power department for strengthening the department from different angles of work. Tovihoto further encouraged the department to coordinate with the department of New & Renewable Energy in order to materialize the system.
Principal Secretary, Power, KD Vizo appreciated the Power department for the success of Unified Rooftop Solar website, which is very important for the residential sector for reduction in electricity bill for the users, it stated.
Earlier, nodal officer (RTS), Atoho Jakhalu, presented a brief description of the scheme and stated that the rooftop solar (RTS) is a system consisting of solar photovoltaic power plants installed mainly on the roof of a building where valid and live electricity connection has been provided by the power utilities concerned (DISCOMS).
He also said that power generated can then be used either for captive consumption of the premises or can be fed into the grid and adjusted in the electricity bill RTS plants.
Chief Engineer (D&R), Tiameren Walling, said applicants must have electricity bill in their own name for applying with necessary supporting documents like ID card or latest electricity bill. He also said that the scheme can be applied online, it stated.
