Dimapur, June 25 (EMN): Department of tourism has organised one-day workshop for tour guides on June 25 at its directorate, Kohima, with the participation of 53 tour guides from all across the state.
A press release from the department stated that the workshop began with exhortation from the secretary of tourism, T Mhabemo Yanthan, wherein he stressed on the importance of communication skill and efficiency in delivering service. He motivated the participants with words of encouragement.
Resource person and architect from Zynorique Initiatives, Richard Belho, spoke on the career prospect in tourism Industry. In his speech, Belho stressed that government should be considered as a facilitator and not an enterprise or revenue generating industry.
Speaking on economic prospect, he advised them to work out a proper system for operating a successful business scenario.
Another resource person, David Angami, president of Nagaland Tourism Association, shared on guidelines and etiquettes for tour guides. He has particularly stressed on the importance of good communication skills, organisational skills, and ideas on promoting business. He also shared on the importance of personal discipline since tour guide acts as ambassador of Nagaland. It was followed by an interactive session.
