DIMAPUR — The
Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting for December,
combined with the Advent Christmas programme, was held at the Deputy
Commissioner conference hall in Mokokchung on Wednesday.
The DPDB meeting was chaired by the chairman of the DPDB and
Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer. It was
attended by the MLA and Advisor for Sericulture and Minority Affairs,
Imkongmar, according to a DIPR report.
While reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, DC
Mokokchung, Thsuvisiephoji, informed the members about the visit of the
Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, to the district on
November 19. He also shared details about the second Cherry Blossom Festival
held at Longkum village, where various departments participated, and spoke
about the prospects of eco-tourism in the district.
The chairman remarked that, as tourism comprises diverse
sectors, a collective effort is necessary to develop new ideas that would
enable visitors to experience the district's unique identity. Regarding the
agenda for blacktopping the diversion road at Imkongliba Memorial District
Hospital, he assured the members that the issue would be addressed at the
earliest.
Longkumer informed the members about the collective
achievements of all stakeholders in the ongoing construction of new
infrastructure at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital and the improvement of
road connectivity along NH 02. He also cautioned all the line departments to
ensure proper services are provided to the public during the festive season.
During the meeting, the house approved and forwarded the
registration of the Environment and Economic Society, Kelingmen village, Mokokchung,
to the concerned authority.
Later, the Advent Christmas programme was chaired by
Lanusenla, principal of the Institute of Communication and Information
Technology (ICIT), Mokokchung.
During the programme, a Christmas message was delivered by
Rev. Dr. Tekatemjen, president of NEALEAST. Christmas greetings were shared by
Imkongmar and Longkumer.
