Kohima, Sep. 29 (EMN): Under the banner of “Paryatan Parv.” an inter-school painting competition was held at Olympic Higher Secondary School, Zunheboto, organised by the department of tourism on September 28.
Highlighting on the objectives of Paryatan Parv to students, assistant director of Tourism, Toka E Tuccumi informed that it was initiated by the Union Ministry of Tourism, DoNER and North East Council (NEC), Government of India and department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland in the year 2017 to show case the cultural diversity of the country and to reinforce the principle of “Tourism for all”.
With its primary focus on the benefits of tourism, Tuccumi said the three main components of “Paryatan Parv” are ‘Dekho apna desh’ which is to encourage Indians to visit own country while ‘Tourism for all’ is to promote event at cities across all the states in the country and ‘Tourism and governance’ was intended to have interactive workshops with all stakeholders.
According to a press release issued by the department, it stated that under “Paryatan Parv” there are many activities like cultural competition, dance competition, yoga sessions, debate, essay competition, heritage walk, painting competition etc.
However, the department has opted to have a painting competition based on the theme “global warming.”
Tourist officer, Khekishe Kappo also briefed the students on the theme of the competition. Altogether students from ten schools participated in the competition, the statement added.
