
KOHIMA — The Tourism department, in collaboration with Nagaland Tourism Association (NTA), organised a capacity building and training for tour guides and homestay owners on May 12 and 13 at Hotel Metsuben in Mokokchung town coinciding with Moatsu festival, the premier festival of Ao community.
An update from NTA stated that participants from Mokokchung including students and neighbouring villages attended the training.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]In a keynote address, Imtisenla Keditsu, senior tourist officer of Mokokchung, stressed on the need and importance of developing “our human resource” especially in the rural areas as Nagaland has immense potential in eco-tourism.

Resource persons namely Kejaroko Pieru, proprietor of Pier Tours; Veshehu Kezo and Veluzo Tetseo, proprietor of Compass Tours, spoke on “Tourism potentials in Nagaland,” “Tour guiding as a profession” and “Homestay as a business” respectively. Veshehu Kezo, proprietor of Tribal Odessey, chaired the inaugural session, while in a closing remark, Vimeto Vakha, NTA president, thanked the department of Tourism for the support to conduct capacity and awareness programme in association with NTA.
