
DIMAPUR — Tourism department, in collaboration with the Nagaland Tourism Association (NTA) conducted a one-day tourism awareness training at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner in Zunheboto town on Friday.
An update from the Tourism department stated that representatives from Tizu Valley Biodiversity Conservation and Livelihood Network (TVBCLN), SBAK Nito Mount, Ghosu Bird Sanctuary, Yemishe and Asukho villages and others attended the training.
It stated that the training was initiated to change the approach of the local communities to tourism and hospitality sector, thereby creating more job opportunities for the rural areas.
It added that the training was conducted to find more tourist centric destination in all parts of the state and also to create opportunities for both skilled and unskilled youth in the field of hospitality.
Report stated that Nyurhetho, assistant director of Tourism, gave an insight of tourism prospects in Nagaland, while Agumbe Nring, tourist officer, spoke on the role of travel agents and tour operators and Vimeto Vakha, president of Nagaland Tourism Association, spoke on the basics of tour guiding. Abigail Solo, tourist officer, gave an overview of hospitality.
In conclusion, Veteu Koza, assistant director, highlighted the registration process, schemes and career aspects of homestays, tourism operators and tourism agents.
