Dimapur, Feb. 23 (EMN): The long-sounding warnings to the government and citizens alike about Nagaland’s deteriorating bridge infrastructure have begun to bear its tragic fruit: A Mahindra Bolero ploughed through the railings of the ancient ‘old’ Dhansiri Bridge located at Kuda ‘B khel’ killing one and injuring another.
The vehicle is said to have plunged straight down into the river.
It is reported that the deceased, who was said to have been driving the vehicle, has been identified to be one Kughato Yepthomi, informed to be a personal secretary to Jacob Zhimomi, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate at Ghaspani-1 assembly constituency in Dimapur.
It is being reported that the accident occurred around 11:30 pm and due to ‘over speeding.’ Information said that the deceased and the other person, unidentified, were rushing to the candidate’s office after assessment and collection of documents from another political group. On the way, the incident took place, it was learned.
