Dimapur, June 12 (EMN): In view of the arrival of returnees from Dimapur and subsequent testing to be conducted at the quarantine centres, the deputy commissioner, Mon, Thavaseelan K, has ordered total lockdown in Mon town from June 12 to the 15th.
In an order, the DC has strictly prohibited movement of public except on medical emergencies, while all shops would remain closed except the pharmacies.
It also stated that offices of DC, SP, banks, Fire and Emergency Services, Health and family Welfare, Power, PHED, Treasuries and Accounts, PWD (R&B), para-military forces would be exempted from the purview of the order.
It, however, stated that movement of essential commodities and goods vehicles would be permitted.
The total lockdown has been enforced with a view to facilitate transportation of people to various quarantine centres in Mon district and collection of throat/ nasal swab for Covid-19 testing. The order further warned that any person found violating the order would be penalised under relevant provision of the law.
