Wokha, Feb. 13: The total shutdown of commercial activities and vehicular movement in Wokha town passed off peacefully and without any report of untoward incidents.
Schools and college institutions were not exempted from today’s bandh. After nearly two weeks of partial shutdown of government offices and vehicles, Monday’s total bandh brought all activities to a grinding halt giving Wokha town a deserted look. Members of frontal organisations and volunteers led by the Lotha Hoho Joint Action Committee (LHJAC) and the Lotha Hoho enforced the bandh.
Meanwhile, representatives of the Lotha Eloe Hoho (Lotha women organisation) were also seen during the bandh lending support to the Lotha Hoho.
A volunteer told this correspondent: ‘Public anger towards the government is gaining momentum.’ Another one said ‘They are ready to render help as volunteers even if this bandh continues to go for months.’
The bandh in Wokha will remain ‘if TR Zeliang ignores the call towards the interest of the Naga public,’ the volunteers said.
