DIMAPUR — The Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dokiu Kecham and family to organise the “Toshi Wungtung Memorial Football Tournament”. The tournament is instituted in memory of late Toshi Wungtung for his contributions to society.
According to a press release issued by YAA, the tournament's inaugural edition will be fully sponsored by Dokiu Kecham and family, amounting to a sum of INR 5 lakh.
For subsequent editions, a shared financial arrangement will be in place, with the sponsor contributing 60% and YAA contributing 40% for a period of two years.

It was mentioned that the primary aim of the tournament is to provide a platform for teams to showcase their skills, thereby promoting football excellence and talent. Additionally, it seeks to foster community engagement and participation by encouraging spectatorship and involvement in the tournament. Furthermore, the partnership endeavours to instil a spirit of sportsmanship and fair play amongst participants, thereby promoting a positive and respectful sporting environment.
The inaugural edition of the tournament will be exclusively for YAA federating units. However, in subsequent editions, open participation for interested football clubs from both within the YAA federating units and beyond will be considered.
