Dimapur, July 2 (EMN): Alleging ‘ideological differences’ regional heads of Delhi and Nagaland for Nagaland Fashion Week Delhi (NFWD) Esther Arenla Jamir and Ethiel Konyak have disassociated themselves from every activity with regard to Nagaland Fashion Week Delhi organised by Delhi Fashion Club under the chairmanship of Harshit Dhingaun.
Informing this in a press note, Jamir stated that the dual idea of organising the event was to promote and celebrate culture, textiles and tourism, impart fashion education, employment and empowerment among youth and women.
“It was an initiative to create employment hubs for job, weaning the misguided youth, bridging and giving opportunity to the northeast of India and to empower women. The event was conceptualist with no intention of making profit out of it there was no scope for profit sharing,” stated the press note.
But deviating from the aim of this humble initiative, they realised that Harshit Dhingaun was pursuing to make profit out of the event. It stated that after sensing Dhingaun’s ulterior motives of monetary benefits, they confronted him to sign legal paper which was flatly refused by him.
Stating that his reluctance to sign any paper has reinforced their belief of his motives, it said they tendered resignation to Delhi Fashion Club on June 11, 2017 not to work under the banner Nagaland Fashion Week Delhi.
Meanwhile, they have expressed gratitude to the Governor of Nagaland for his unflinching support and invoking inspiration for this endeavour. They have thanked the chief minister of Nagaland and Union Minister of States for Home Kiran Rijuji for being the source of motivation and driving force behind the event. They further expressed gratitude to Nagaland House Delhi officers and staff and different students’ organisations from Nagaland and Northeast for their unflinching support towards the initiative.
