Dimapur, Nov. 30 (EMN): PWD minister Tongpang Ozukum visited Zunheboto district on Nov. 30 and inspected several developmental works being undertaken in the town.
On his maiden visit to the district, the minister inspected the main town road, Zunheboto government college road, Alahuto road, Nito Mount road, New Colony road, project west road and the district hospital road.
He later interacted with the staff of the PWD Zunheboto division and said that the PWD is one of the most important departments in the state. He said the present PDA government has given top priority to development of roads and added that INR 3 crore has been sanctioned for Zunheboto so far. He went on to say that some works in the district have been completed while some are yet to.
While appealing the staff of PWD in the district to work with dedication, Ozukum said that the state government will focus on every district of Nagaland ‘apart from Kohima and dimapur’ starting next year.
About the construction of PWD office building in the district, the minister said that he would put the project in his priority list and at the same time appealed the landowners of Zunheboto to cooperate with the government for development activities.
The NDPP Zunheboto president, Khehoshe H. Yeptho, while speaking at the interactive session, thanked the minister for personally visiting the district and requested him to give same priority to Zunheboto as Mokokchung citing that both the districts as neighbours.
Executive engineer of PWD, Zunheboto Tokavi Chishi apprised the minister of the development activities being undertaken by the department in the district. Later, the minister visited Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto and interacted with the church leaders. He also congratulated the Sumi people for constructing such a majestic church building and requested the church leaders to keep him in their prayers.
The minister was accompanied by SE Hozheto Shikhu, EE Tokavi Chishi, EE Vikaho Zhimo, President NDPP zunheboto Khehoshe H Yeptho and party workers during the visit.
