Dimapur, Sep. 30: Tongmeth Konyak, a senior Naga leader of NSCN (R), passed away in the early hours of September 30 at a hospital in Mon town.
Konyak was a native of Chingdang village in Wakching subdivision of Mon district. He was 63.
Speaking at his funeral, the president of the NSCN (R) Wangtin Konyak said that Konyak’s passing was a great loss for all Nagas. “A veteran leader who saw a vision for a better Nagaland and a good advisor when needed,” the president said adding that the contributions made by the departed leader will always remain in the history books of Naga struggle.
