TOLIC honours offices with awards

Gurjap Singh, commandant of the ARTC&S, giving away a TOLIC Shield to a representative for ‘best implementation of official language.’[/caption] Dimapur, Feb. 26 (EMN): The establishment of the Chief Engineer of Sewak Project; Food Corporation of India at Dimapur; and the DIG of Range of the CRPF at Khatkhati were conferred with an award called the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC) Shield Scheme 2016-17 for their efforts in the implementation of the official language policy. The award was initiated to enhance the spirit of competition among establishments of the central government, it was informed. The awards were given away at the second biannual meeting of Dimapur TOLIC held at Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S), Dimapur, under the chairmanship of Brig Gurjap Singh, Commandant of ARTC&S on February 23. On the occasion, 11 Tactical Air Centre of 173 Bn CRPF; No. 1 Maintainance Group of Assam Rifles, Headquarters 6 Sector Assam Rifles; and 32 Assam Rifles were also given Commendation Certificate for their good work in the field of official language implementation. Altogether 39 members of central government offices situated in Dimapur attended the meet, wherein Maj Bhavana Sharma, secretary of TOLIC, addressed the meeting, while Naib Subedar (Hindi translator) Deshraj of ARTC&S briefed on various aspects of the TOLIC meet. Representatives from various government offices presented their inputs and reports on their progress on implementation of Rajbhasha Hiondi in their respective sectors. After assessing the progress on implementation of Hindi in central government offices in Dimapur, Brig Gurjap Singh stressed upon importance of progressive use of Hindi and exhorted all members to implement the policies issued by the Government of India regarding publicity and implementation of the official language policy. The Commandant also emphasised on how motivational steps could be resorted for implementation of Hindi by means of incentives and appreciations in all central government offices. Speaking on the occasion, the Commandant applauded the efforts of the TOLIC members for their keen efforts on wide publicity of the official language. During the meeting, importance of progressive use of Hindi in central government offices was highlighted and all members were requested to implement Hindi incentive schemes introduced by the Government of India in their respective offices.
