In a path breaking move, PHED minister Tokheho Yepthomi today distributed bicycles and hand sewing machines to 240 families of Dhansiripar sub-division under 3 Dimapur-III Assembly constituency, which was procured under the Local Area Development Fund (LADF) Scheme for the year 2015-16.
In total, 170 households received bicycles and 70 hand sewing machines out of the total 400 bicycles and 200 hand sewing machines which would be subsequently distributed phase-wise in other parts of the constituency. A simple ceremony was organized at Dhansiripar Village Council hall in presence of government officials and village functionaries from surrounding villages.
Addressing the function, Tokheho Yepthomi rued over prevailing corrupt practices in the Naga society, which he felt as a scenario in which ‘Naga people are cheating Naga people.’ He made special reference to those government officials who don’t go to office but draw their monthly salary without work and the practices of proxy teaching in government schools.
Reassuring his commitment to work for the welfare of the people in his constituency, Tokheho urged the people to be messengers to curb corruption in the society.
‘Beginning with Dimpaur-III Assembly constituency, let us set example for others to emulate in all development activities,’ Tokheho urged the members. He also urged the people of the constituency to give him ‘push’ in working for the betterment of the constituency.
The next phase of bicycle and hand sewing machine distribution would be held next month at Singrijan. In view of advanced technology making its way into our life, Tokheho also announced that laptop computers will be provided to needy school children in the constituency.
To provide potable water in Dhansiripar sub-division, Tokheho informed that water reservoir is being constructed in Khuova nullah with a substantial capacity.
Also speaking on the occasion, SCO (C), Mhalo Humtsoe, appreciated the minister for providing the goods by identifying the right thing for the benefit of the people. Stating that skills and development are basic requirement in this present era, she said such could be brought about only through visionary leaders.
She further urged the people in the sub-division to render continued support to the minister in carrying forward developmental activities.
