Dimapur, Jan. 24: Minister for PHED, Tokheho Yepthomi, while addressing the Sumi Council East Dimapur annual general session as a chief guest, called for unity and communal harmony within the community. He also urged the Sumi community to maintain brotherhood with other communities for the growth and prosperity of Naga society.
He further appealed the people to cooperate with the government for all round development of the state as a whole.
The annual session of Sumi East Duimapur, consisting of Purana Bazaar, Naharbari, Darogapathar and Darogajan was held under the theme “Sumi ye Sumi shiaye kimiye mayesa,” at Purana Bazaar Village Council Hall, on January 23.
H.K. Khulu, retired additional chief secretary, who also spoke on the occasion urged Tokheho and the concerned citizens to give emphasis on the development of proper drainage and sewerage system in East Dimapur area.
Exhorting the gathering, Vihoto Achumi, general manager Industry, encouraged the Sumi community of East Dimapur to be the torch bearers of peace and unity in the society.
The session was chaired by outgoing chairman of the council Tohoshe Awomi and was recorded by outgoing general secretary Kughato Chophy. Rev. Dr. Vitoi Kappo, pastor of Sumi Baptist Church East Dimapur said the invocation prayer; Vikuto Wotsa, GB delivered welcome address while Tokihe Awomi, outgoing joint secretary proposed vote of thanks and Rev. Dr. Shiwoto Swu, pastor of NCRC Sumi, Purana Bazaar pronounced benediction.
On the occasion, new team of office bearers for the tenure 2017-2019 was also elected led by Dr. Hitoka Achumi as chairman, Tovishe Achumi as vice chairman, Tokihe Awomi as general secretary, Kiyento Zhimo as joint secretary and Inakhe Yeptho as treasurer.
