Kohima, March 30 (EMN): Parliamentary Secretary of Urban Affairs, R Tohanba said though Kohima has been selected for Smart City project, it is still struggling for the sanction of funds.
Pointing out the parity system that has already given by the Ministry on 50:50 basis, Tohanba said his department is trying its best to implement the project by inviting Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode and also incorporate other funding agencies
At the same time, he has requested the State government to appeal the Government of India for consideration on the funding pattern of this project on a 90:10 basis, saying only then the project will be more applicable.
Also speaking on the cable car project under Smart City project, Tohanba requested the chief minister to consider the project despite budget constraint as he believed that once the project is implemented, it will ease traffic congestion in the State capital and also boost tourism.‘The budget, in brief, covers magnanimity and entire components for the welfare of the State and many other pertaining expenditure and revenues of the State. This is a people’s budget presented in the form of an accurate budget, he said.
Also speaking on the infrastructural development under Shamatore-Chessore constituency, Tohanba said the road connectivity under his constituency is in a deplorable condition.
Although the government has earmarked Rs 3 crore under NABARD for the Lanka Bridge connecting Chessore Civil SDO headquarters and ADC Shamatore headquarters, Tohanba said it has been implemented during the last two years.
He, therefore, requested the chief minister to look into the matter stating the bridge is the lifeline of the people of the constituency.
