Dimapur, May 20 (EMN): The Tobu Area Students’ Union (TASU) has expressed disappointment at headmasters (HM) of the government high school at Tobu and the government High School of Bumei for what the union stated was poor performance of their students in the recently declared High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinations. A press release from the union on Sunday expressed the statement.
According to the press release, the Tobu school had enrolled a total of 19 students out of which 10 students appeared the exams and only one student was qualified. Also, government high school at Tobu a total of 21 students enrolled and appeared the exams and only two students were qualified.
‘The poor performance in the exams is one of the reasons why the enrolment in the govt. schools are declining and as such, the HM should play an important role in maintaining strict discipline among the teachers and students,’ the press release stated.
‘Government high school at Tobu with a passed percentage of five and GHSB with ten, the union would like to ask the HM of both the schools to submit a report on the factors that have led to the poor performance of the students in the recently concluded HSLC exam within 15 days to the TASU office,’ issued the press release.
“The union would also like to remind that we are ever ready to lend our helping hand to tackle any issues and challenges that the teachers and staffs are facing while trying to scale up the education system under Tobu Sub-division,” it added.
