Dimapur, Jan. 19 (EMN): To promote and strengthen the health and education sectors in Tobu block, Tobu Area Students’ Union (TASU) has decided to declare 2019 as a year of ‘Good health and education.’
In this regard, TASU has decided to adopt three government middle schools (GMSs) and one government primary school (GPS) with the support from village councils, education committee and federating units. The decision to adopt government schools under ‘Teach for Tobu’ initiative would be officially launched in the last week of January, stated Moba AS Konyak, TASU information secretary in a press release.
The decision to this effect was taken during the 35th session of TASU federal meeting cum sports meet which was held from January 8 to 15 with the participation of 13 village units. This was announced by TASU president Sangti Konyak in his opening remark during the session.
The release also stated that Bongkhao, advisor of DUDA, along with Nyakho, president of NDPP 55 Tobu assembly constituency, attended the programme as special invitee.
At the closing event, Yangba, senior superintendent of police, Longleng, and Brigadier Suresh Sheoren, DIG 7 sector, Tuensang, attended the programme as the special invitees.
DIG also distributed sports goods to all the 13 teams and donated cash prize to the organisers.
In the sports event, TTSU won the football match and MVSU emerged as the runners-up. In men’s volleyball, TVSU emerged as the winner and PVSU was declared runners-up, while in the women’s volleyball, CVSU and PVSU emerged as the winners and runners-up respectively.
Other events such as Miss TASU, literary and cultural nights were also held during which Moba, BDO Tobu; Dr. Chemang Paul; and Chingmak Kumchuba, president of CCSU; attended the program as a special invitees.
