[dropcap]M[/dropcap]any many moons ago, an Emperor once said to a Rabbi whose name was Joshua, “You teach me that your God is everywhere and that He resides among your nation. I would like to see Him.” The Rabbi replied, “Yes, God’s presence is indeed everywhere, but He cannot be seen. No mortal eye can behold His glory.” The Emperor however insisted. So Joshua, the Rabbi had the Emperor follow him to the open air at noonday and told the Emperor to look at the sun. “Cannot see,” said the Emperor, “the light dazzles me.” Then said the Rabbi to the Emperor, “Thou art unable to bear the light of one of His creation, how then could thou be able to look upon the Creator?” Yes, like the Emperor we might not be able to look upon the Creator, but the least we can do is to sincerely humble ourselves and pray. It does not cost a thing to pray.
Not many moons ago, a preacher once had a dream in which he was shown the abode of the lost. Here, a company of demons were discussing the best means for destroying the souls of men. One said, “I will go to earth and tell them that the Bible is a fable, and not of God.” No, that won’t do, said another, “I will go and tell them that there is no Saviour, no Heaven, no Hell.” At these words the crooked smile of the demons lit up their faces. But another demon continued, “No, that will fail, you cannot make men believe that.” At this, that old Serpent arose, himself, and remarked, “I will journey leisurely to the world of men. I will tell them that there is a God, a Savior, a Heaven, - and yes, a Hell too, but I will tell them that there is no need of being in a hurry, and to take plenty of time.” And all the demons agreed that he should go.
Yes, one does not know that one does not even know that one does not know. What-so-ever, it is a question of faith, trust, work and love. The least anyone can do is pray. It surmounts obstacles. May His mercy be on us.
