AKTM conference culminates at Sungratsu
Sungratsu, Jan. 13: To be part of the new generation does not mean being youthful but to be a progressive and knowledgeable person. Unless, the people harness knowledge, they cannot claim to belong to the new generation, a former government officer has reminded students of Sungratsu village.
The three-day 41st triennial general conference of the Asetkong Kaketshir Telongjem Mungdang culminated at Sungratsu village, under Mokokchung district, on Thursday evening. TN Manen, chancellor of Global University of Nagaland addressed the program.
Speaking at the programme, TN Manen said that the 21 century belongs to the new generation. It is a ‘generation of knowledge explosion because of technol0gical advancement and globalization,’ he said. However, he cautioned, unless they become knowledgeable ‘we do not belong to the new generation.’The former government officer said that the new generation does not mean only youthfulness but being a progressive and knowledgeable person. Therefore, he called upon the students to change their outlook, mindset and knowledge.
Also, TN Manen said that to be a part of the global community, ‘We must know and learn from what is happening in the world around us and examine wither or not we are happy with the way the society is moving today.’ He urged the students to search their minds and ‘see what can be the best for all round development of the society.’
M Sengupta, second-in-command of the 44th Assam Rifles in Mokokchung and Temsuwangshi, district disaster management officer of Mokokchung, attended the sports segment of the program on the third day and other related cultural events, at the government high school of Sungratsu, at Alongchen compound.
In the cultural and sports segments, the team championship was taken by the Sungratsu Students’ Union while the runner-up prize went to Longpa Kaketshir Telongjem.
