Mokokchung, Dec. 15 (EMN): A two-day badminton tournament organised by the Tzurangkong Students’ Conference (TKM) on the theme, ‘Endurance’ culminated at Longpayimsen village under Tzurangkong range of Mokokchung district on last Dec. 14.
Atsung Walling, Border Magistrate, Tzurangkong in his valedictory speech said that bookish knowledge is acquired from schools and colleges, however, such sporting events mould a person’s personality, character building and broaden our mindset.
He encouraged the players stating that whether they lose or win, participation is important and advised them humble themselves and put more effort to hone their skill.
Lauding the TKM for successfully hosting the tournament, Walling also encouraged the TKM to continue organising such events along with other educational and welfare activities for the student’s community.
He further asserted that society is very important for every individual and advised the gathering, ‘let not the society seek us, let individuals seek the society’.
Lanukaba and Supongmeren were the winners in the under-14 (boys doubles) category with Chubatemjen and Imnasungit as the runner-up while Larikhumla won the under-14 (girls singles) and Akumienla as the runner-up.
Kerenjungba and Nengsangtoshi won the under-19 (boys doubles) with Imlimanen and Yarangchang as the runner-up. In the under-19 (girls doubles), Rongsentula and Tatongsenla were the winners while Sentimenla and Watimongla were the runner-up.
In the open (girls doubles) category, Matsung and Watisangla were the winners and Rongsentula and Tatongsenla were the runner-up.
Tiayanger and Imong won the open (boys doubles) while Nokdang and Noktir were the runner-up.
