- DIMAPUR — The
Tikhir Women Union Kohima celebrated the 12th Teipo Tsahyoknyi, a pre-sowing
festival observed by the Tikhir women, on January 25 at JMC, Lerie, Kohima,
with Athrila S Sangtam, joint secretary, Transport department, as the special
guest.
- According to an update, speaking on the occasion, the
special guest encouraged the gathering to be self-reliant and not to forget the
value of hard work taught by their ancestors and parents.
- She encouraged the Tikhir women to preserve and become
guardians of the tribe's rich cultural values, as well as to participate in
decision-making within society.
- She stated that the days when women were
confined to the home for children and family alone are gone, and today, women are
equal partners, playing a crucial role in building and developing society.
- Yongchem, president of TWUK, gave the welcome note. Tsahyok
Vila and Tsahyok Khin were performed by the Tikhir Sisters and Detsü Thongliu,
respectively. The programme ended with a mass prayer.
