NSDMA warns of thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and heavy rainfall across Nagaland districts from April 21 to 24

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued a weather alert warning of widespread thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across the state from April 21 to the 24th, with moderate to heavy rainfall expected in several districts.
According to a press release issued on Monday, districts including Longleng, Mokokchung and Mon are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall, particularly on April 21, with Mon district expected to experience heavy rainfall in many areas.
The NSDMA stated that most districts—Dimapur, Kohima, Peren, Wokha, Tuensang, Zunheboto and Tseminyu—are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning during the period. Gusty winds are also expected in several places, posing risks to loose structures, trees and power lines.
It added that light to moderate rainfall is likely at scattered locations across the state, with partly cloudy to overcast conditions prevailing intermittently.

Kiphire and Meluri districts are not expected to face significant weather warnings for most of the forecast period.
The NSDMA stated that weather activity is likely to be more intense on April 21 and the 22nd and is expected to gradually improve from April 23 onwards, with reduced warnings in many districts.
It further advised citizens to remain cautious during the period of adverse weather and to use the Safer Nagaland App for real-time alerts and verified updates.
