Dimapur, Nov. 19 (EMN): Expressing deep concern over the negligence of the Government High School (GHS) Chiphur under SDEO Noklak by the teachers, the Thsoiphu Students’ Union (TSU) has appealed the concern authority to intervene and take necessary action to redress the grievances of the students’ community.
The TSU president, Y. Pengchang and general secretary Lamthai N., in a press release, said that the particular government high school continues to be neglected despite several appeals and requests by the union.
Saying that irregularities of teachers posted at the school and ‘non-performance’ of their duties have created untold hardships and burden to the students, the union expressed concern that with the academic session for 2018 coming to an end, “the students are left at their own mercy”.
“The union is deeply saddened to learn that 80% of science subject syllabus had not been covered as the concerned teacher was on leave and resigned later with the reliever yet to be appointed and the other Science teacher attending the class only for one day this academic session 2018,” the TSU stated while at the same time expressing sadness to learn that most of the syllabus of different subjects are yet to be covered.
The TSU said it has made several appeals to the concern department but there has been no positive response. It also said the union had made several appeals to the teachers posted at the GHS to be diligent in their duties. But it fell on deaf ears thereby depriving the students of their right to be taught and to learn.
The TSU appealed concern authorities to intervene in matter and take necessary actions . It cautioned that the concern department would be held solely responsible in the event of any untoward incident.
