The much hyped national motor-event “Throttle Thrust 2015” organized by the Spearhead Motorsport Initiative (SMI) will kick start on September 11. The event will witness participants from Delhi, Meghalaya, Assam and Nagaland. The national motor-event is in commemoration of 125 years celebration of Mokokchung town. The event will have three categories of competition: Autocross, Motocross and Jeepcross. The Jeepcross is solely for the jeep lovers of Mokokchung town.
The event also features a car-expo where different car companies will showcase their latest car models and bookings will be open for interested individuals. Free test-drives will also be availed. The bank partners of the event will offer car loans and insurance to the public. Another added attraction of the event will be the presence of Polaris ATV, world’s no.1 off road vehicle, for the first time in Mokokchung. The audience can experience the power of an ATV by test-driving it for a nominal fee. It is to be noted that the car expo organized by the SMI is first of its kind in Mokokchung.The convenor of the event, B. Merang Longkumer, said that the motor event was organized in commemoration of 125 years of Mokokchung town and for the car enthusiast of Mokokchung in particular and the state in general. “The positive response from car enthusiast not only from our state but outside our state is encouraging only makes us realize that there are avenues where we can promote motorsport in our district”. The SMI cautioned and requested the people of Mokokchung to drive responsibly and said that SMI does not encourage speed racing.
The event will be inaugurated by Nuklutoshi, Minister, National Highways & Mechanical Engineeering, Nagaland and the closing ceremony will be graced by C. Apok Jamir, Parliamnetary secretary, Tourism, Nagaland.
