- PIPHEMA — Citizens of Piphema from three villages and
various places on Wednesday converged at Piphema village ground to celebrate
the 14th Piphema Rüpfhünuo (Piphema Generations) Day.
- Convenor of the planning/ organising committee, Zhato Kimho,
stated that Piphema Rüpfhünuo Day is held once in every five years with the
objective of bringing together the citizens of Piphema and their in-laws to
foster better relationships and celebrate the achievements of its members in
education, sports and other fields besides assessment of its populations.
- Kimho highlighted that Piphema comprises of three villages
and four churches, which often have their own programmes. He said Rüpfhünuo Day
serves as the largest gathering of Piphema people — Piphema Old, Piphema New,
and Piphema 'A'.
- The convenor informed that 74 individuals have graduated,
while eight excelled in sports in the past five years.
- Addressing the event, Kehiezakie Keyho, Head Gaon Bura of
Piphema Bawe, expressed delight on the advancements in education sector. He
advised the students to pursue government jobs through competitive
examinations, noting that backdoor appointments are no longer prevalent unlike
in the past.
- Reminding that greed is a major factor causing disunity and
misunderstanding among the villagers, he urged the people to rid themselves of
this culture and live according to Christian principles with honesty.
- Keyho also pointed out that drunkenness is another factor
preventing individuals from living peacefully with others and advised the
people to abandon such behaviour. He stressed the need for honesty among
villagers and public leaders and added that without honesty, people lose
respect for one another, regardless of their knowledge or capabilities.
- He further urged the gathering to give up bad habits and
live in unity and peace.
- Pelezotuo Kuotsu, president of Piphema Khenu Kruta Krotho
(PKKK), the apex body of three villages of Piphema, delivered greetings.
