
Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso giving away the ‘Kohima District Road
Safety Award’ to Kohima Village Youth Organisation on Saturday.
- DIMAPUR — Three
organisations namely Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO), Kigwema Youth
Organisation (KYO) and D- Block Youth Organisation (D-BYO) were awarded the
‘Kohima District Road Safety Award’ on Saturday.
- The awards were given away during the monthly District
Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting in recognition of their
contribution towards road safety in Kohima district.
- KVYO was awarded in recognition for overall road safety
measures and initiatives undertaken in and around Kohima. KVYO has also
supported the district administration and police in improving the traffic
situation in Kohima and managing parking facilities in the interest of public
safety.
- KYO was awarded for selfless services in saving lives during
vehicular accidents in Kigwema village. KYO has also facilitated the
installation of road safety signage, metal and concrete crash barriers at
critical locations and the timely maintenance of the National Highway in close
coordination with implementing agencies.
- The D-Block Youth Organisation was awarded for conducting
road safety awareness activities for two-wheeler riders along the highway.
- A DIPR report stated that the Kohima District Road Safety
Committee (KDRSC) was constituted under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner
(DC) of Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, during its meeting held on January 17, 2025.
The committee decided to give away the annual ‘Kohima District Road Safety
Award,’ a district-level award with citations and cash award of INR 10,000
each. The award was to be given to three individuals, groups, organisations or
departments contributing to road safety.
- It stated that a selection committee was formed with
Rhosietho Nguori, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Kohima, as convener
along with the additional superintendent of police (traffic and protocol),
regional transport officer and the president of Angami Youth Organisation (AYO)
as members.
