Three NEC irrigation projects ongoing in Nagaland

DIMAPUR — The Department of Irrigation and Flood Control, Nagaland, has three ongoing projects sanctioned by the North Eastern Council (NEC), with a total sanctioned amount of INR 13.74 crore.

As of April 30, 2024, INR 12.04 crore has been utilised for these projects.

One of the three ongoing projects includes anti-erosion works on the Tizu River in Zunheboto, costing INR 2.97 crore, which is scheduled for completion by March 31, 2025.

Another project involves constructing a rainwater reservoir for fire safety at the regional border and a skill training centre for fire safety officers in Nagaland. This project costs INR 3.82 crore and is scheduled for completion by March 31, 2027.

The third project is the construction of the Rutsa Multipurpose Irrigation Project in Kohima, with a total cost of INR 6.95 crore.

Although it was scheduled to be completed by March 23, 2019, it is still ongoing, with INR 6.25 crore utilised for the project according to the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region project dashboard as of April 30, 2024.
