DIMAPUR — In a significant political development in Peren district, all three Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) councillors of the Tening Town Council—namely, Mairisibo Rengmunta, Rambin, and Nchikam—have officially merged with the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP).
According to an update, the formal announcement was made on July 10 in the presence of senior NDPP leaders, including Harwetlang Kenn, president of NDPP Peren, and Kacham, general secretary of NDPP Peren, among others.
It was mentioned that this decision was taken on their own volition, by their collective desire to extend support to Namri Nchang, MLA of the 6th Tening Assembly Constituency, and added that they “believe that this move will further strengthen the developmental agenda and good governance being carried forward under his leadership”.
Consequently, the three NCP councillors have formally resigned from all roles and affiliations with the Nationalist Congress Party.
‘We reaffirm our firm belief in the dynamic leadership of Shri Chingwang Konyak, president of NDPP state of Nagaland, and the visionary leadership of Dr. Neiphiu Rio, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland, and we commit ourselves to work tirelessly for the upliftment of our constituency and the strengthening of the NDPP and the government at large,’ it read.
