DIPHU — Three minor children drowned in a pond under Bokajan Police Station in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Sujit Gorh (9), Rohit Panika (8) and Ganesh Mech (7).
According to family sources, the three children went missing on Wednesday afternoon. Following a frantic search, villagers spotted the children’s clothes near a pond in the evening.
Locals immediately launched a search operation in the pond and subsequently recovered the bodies of all three children.
Police from Bokajan Police Station reached the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination. A case of unnatural death has been registered in connection with the incident.
