A three-day self-defence training programme under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme concluded in Niuland.

DIMAPUR — A three-day self-defence training programme organised under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative culminated at the Multi-Disciplinary Sports Stadium in Niuland on June 10.
The training, held from June 8 to the 10th, was organised by the district administration and the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Niuland, in collaboration with the Niuland District Pencak Silat Association.
According to an update, an elite team of instructors from the Nagaland Pencak Silat Association conducted the sessions. The team was led by General Secretary and Head Coach of the Nagaland Pencak Silat Association Deep Kumar, along with Vice President H Vikishe Chophy.

The training team also included decorated athletes: Kevin, a national gold medallist; Kitenlo K Thono, an international silver medallist and national gold medallist; and Liike Kibami, a national gold medallist.
The programme aimed to equip young girls and women with practical self-defence skills through Pencak Silat, while building confidence and safety awareness under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign.
The Deputy Commissioner TL Kiusumong Tikhir commended the Niuland District Pencak Silat Association and the trainers for bringing their expertise to the district and urged the participants to become ambassadors of safety.
