Imphal,Oct. 8 (EMN): The 25th annual three-day conference of the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI) began in Imphal on Saturday in the presence of Manipur Health minister Dr. S Ranjan Singh, Dr. G Siddesh, president of ASI headquarters and Prof. V Seenu, head of department of surgery, All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
Director Prof. A Santa of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Prof. Seema Khanna, head of department of surgery, IMS Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Prof. Umesh Kumar, head of department of plastic surgery, IMS BHU; and Prof. Prabir Jash, consultant plastic surgeon from Kolkata were also present during the inaugural function of the conference.
The theme of this year's conference, which could not be held for the past two years (2020 and 2021) due to COVID-19, is 'Surgery-towards newer horizons'.
Many eminent guest speakers and surgeons will exchange their views and share knowledge apart from making presentations during the conference.
It may be mentioned that prior to the conference of the ASI,a pre-conference workshop on laparoscopic surgery was held in collaboration with the Association of minimal access surgeons of India at Shija hospitals and research institute Langol in the outskirts of Imphal on October 7.
