Dimapur, May 30 (EMN): Dimapur police crime branch personnel, on May 30, have arrested three people for possessing fake Indian currency notes worth INR 54,000.
According to a Dimapur police press release, the said sum was bundled in a change total of 108 fake notes in 500 denominations, amounting to INR 54,000. The three accused from whom the fake currency was recovered were identified as Basanta Bhuyan (48), son of Dhanaswar Bhuyan of Narayanpur village in North Lakhimpur, Assam; Tajen Borah (27), son of Raman Borah of Dholpur village in Lakhimpur, Assam; and Dilip Borah (50), son of Profulla Borah of Borachuk village in Sonitpur district, Assam.
It stated that case in this connection has been registered with the Diphupar Police Station for further investigation.
In a separate statement, Dimapur police have arrested one person identified as Shikaho, son of Zuhoi Achumi of Ahoto village under Niuland sub-division for possessing a .32 mm pistol and three live rounds. Case in this connection has been registered with the GRPS for further investigation, the statement added.
