Three arrested for murder of Naga man in Chennai

Eastern Mirror Desk Dimapur, July 14: Three persons have been arrested by the Chennai police in connection with the murder of 22 year-old Kaboto Kiba in Chennai. This was confirmed to Eastern Mirror by the Naga Students’ Union, Chennai (NSUC) vice-president, Chibenthung Naga, on Sunday. According to information provided by the NSUC vice-president, the arrested persons were Jeyanta Doss (21), Ranjith (19), and Alok(19) all hailing from Assam, and colleagues of the victim. They also shared a room at AGD colony, Velachery in Chennai. They were arrested while trying to flee from the city by the Chennai Police. The motive behind the murder was said to be a "misunderstanding". The owner of the restaurant assisted the police in apprehending the three persons and they are currently under the custody of Chennai Police, he informed. According to him, as per request from the family members of victim, Kiba was buried in Chennai itself and the ceremony was attended by the northeast community and members of the Naga Christian Fellowship. The NSUC vice-president has appealed to the students and working individuals to register themselves with the NSUC so that they can assist them during any untoward incident.
