Guwahati, August 27 (EMN): The third edition of Northeast India Fashion Week (NEIFW), 2017 concluded on Sunday at AEI field, Chandmari, Guwahati with 14 modellers and weavers from across the states of Northeast coming together to showcase their unique creation and production of ethnic costumes. The show was sponsored by NEIFW-YS (Yana and Style).
The event coincided with the second edition of ‘Great Northeastern Momo Fest’ organised by VAS at the same venue.
At the NEIFW, the organiser introduced good number of weavers giving them platform to showcase their products and accordingly on August 25, the weavers from different region of Northeast had put-up stalls for exhibition cum sales of ethnic costumes of different tribes, it stated.
From Diphu, Karbi Anglong weaver Roselyn Tokbipi had put-up stall exhibiting the ethnic costumes of Karbi tribe, which is the major tribe of the district. Tokbipi was introduced and sponsored by designer Rohila Engtipi of Diphu.

On Sunday evening weavers showcased their productions as well as collection of different designers with ethnic fabric and looks. The costumes of the Karbi tribe, the production of Tokbipi were showcased by model’s Amar Basumatary and Priyanka Deori.
Besides, dresses of Bodos, Assamese, Khasis, different sub-clans of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh of the weavers showcased by modellers’.
The show ended with fashion show showcasing various designs of the participating designers’.
NE Diva 2016-17 meets Manipur CM Singh
Imphal, August 27 (EMN): The winners of the FIAMA Northeast Diva 2016-17 called on Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh and sought his blessing in their future endeavours at his office chamber in Imphal.
The winners of the beauty pageant include Peden Ongmu Namgyal (21) of Sikkim, 1st runner-up Loukrakpam Angoubi Chanu (18) of Manipur and 2nd runner-up Poonam Das (18) of Assam. The grand finale of North East Diva Pageant which aims to empower and encourage the young talented women of Northeast to get a platform in the national as well as international fashion arena was held on August 20 at Guwahati, Assam.
