Thipüzumi, Dec. 28 (EMN): Commissioner and Secretary of Rural Development, Neposo Thelü-o, on Wednesday called upon the student community to transform the society by overcoming limitations and negativity so as to expand boundaries and achieve great things.
The commissioner and secretary was addressing the 75th anniversary celebration of Thipüzumi Students’ Union (TSU) held on the theme ‘Transcending limitation, catalysing transformation.’
Paying tribute to TSU pioneers, Thelü-o said commemoration of 75 years is a momentous occasion and added that “with this maturity comes responsibility.” He expounded the need to transform for good and stressed on the need to overcome limitations and negativity so as to expand boundaries and to achieve great things.
Stating that there has to be a willingness to push out of the comfort zone in order to achieve, Thelü-o remarked that it is “madness to be doing what one has been doing unless we progress.”
He exhorted the students not to bask on their past glories but to compete with others, let go their ego and to feed their minds with good thoughts.
The president of Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU), Avezo Kevin Kapu, in his greetings, exhorted the students to have vision, be disciplined and have passion and to persevere.
The chairman of Thipüzumi Village Council, Zhoveyi Rose, exhorted the students to work hard and venture into science and technology. He also shared on the need to promote culture and native language and upkeep the identity of the village.
TSU president, Kevezo Zango Chuzho, in his address, stressed on the need for pressing towards personal acumen and also the need to upkeep individual and community identity in order to strengthen one’s roots.
On the occasion, the guest of honour also released the jubilee souvenir, while welcome address was delivered by Vevosayi Tetseo. Vezahü Thelü-o, the first TSU president, pronounced blessing (Reli Phri) for the students’ fraternity.
Earlier, Thelü-o unveiled the 75th anniversary monolith and also inaugurated the Thipuzumi anniversary building in the presence of officers from the village and village leaders.
