Dimapur, Dec. 14 (EMN): The 48th games and sports meet of Thenyizumi Youth Social Welfare Organisation (TYSWO) got underway at Thenyizu local ground with MLA Dr. Chotisuh Sazo as the chief guest on Fri. Dec. 14.
In his address, the chief guest asked the participants to maintain discipline and asked them to choose a particular sport to be a professional sportsperson emphasising the examples of Naga Olympian Dr. T. Ao and Chekrovolu Swuro. He further impressed upon the youths to put their hard effort in order to earn their livelihood in any field they choose.
Challenging the youth to take up sports as a career, he said successful sportsperson have more advantage for appointment in government institute. He also recapitulates the age old friendship bond between Thenyizu and Phusachodu village.
The youth president Vekhruzo Thisa in his presidential address congratulated wrestler Venuzo Dawhuo, for bringing laurel to the village in different fields of sports at national and international levels and also state archery coach Hunezo Thisa for being the recipient of Dr. T. Ao's award.
He acknowledged Dr. Sazo for bringing various developments to the village specifically connecting water pipeline to the village during his tenure as minister PHE. He also encouraged all the athletes to work hard and sincere in order to be a successful sports person.
The track and field events got underway as the four-day meet will conclude on Dec. 18.
