‘The world suffers because of silence of good people’

KOHIMA, AUGUST 2 : Along with the rest of the Ao Nagas, the Kohima Lirmen Senso Telongjem (KLST) celebrated Tsüngremmong festival at Capital Convention Centre, Kohima. The festival was graced by Dr. Benjongliba Aier, Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture and chairman NSAMB as the chief guest. In his address, Dr. Aier called the need for the Nagas to positively overcome the challenges we are facing at the moment. Stating that Nagas have progressed significantly during the last fifty years, he, however, regretted that the Naga society is a broken society today. “There is a lot of economic inequalities, class distinction and social injustice in the present society,” Dr. Aier said maintaining that “we need a significant presence of Christ in our society. He went on to say that Nagas should not cry over the past, nor stress “too much about the future, but to live in the present and make our society as beautiful as we desire. To this, he further said that the world suffers more not because of the violence of bad people, but because of the silence of good people. ???????????????????????????????????? On Tsungremmong festival, which he said is celebrated to sanctify oneself and obtain blessings from God, he also urged every members to sanctify themselves to seek God’s blessings. By celebrating the festival, he also expressed hope that it will bring prosperity to the Ao Nagas. The programme commenced with invocation pronounced by A. Moa Longchar, secretary, Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo, while the welcome address was delivered by N. Meren Imchen. Short speeches were also delivered by the presidents of Kohima Japukong Senso Telongjem and Dimapur Lirmen Senso Telongjem. A folk song was presented by Kohima Lirmentsür Telongjem, while Toshinaro Imchen presented a song. A. Temjenlemba Longchar shared about the significance of the festival.
