Before the dawn of creation began,
Before the shaping of sea and land,
Before the stars were cast in place,
Was our God—unchanged in grace.
No shifting shadow veils His light,
No fading truth, no dimming sight;
The same in power, same in will,
Thru’ ages past, He reigns on still.
His voice spoke, and the world appeared,
The void gave way, the dark was cleared;
From dust to breath, from void to flame,
Creation rose at His command the same.
His purpose stands, it does not bend,
No altered course, no sudden end;
What He has willed shall yet be done,
His perfect plan and time are one.
His provision flows, steady and sure,
Unfailing and constant, rich and pure;
No drought can dry His giving hand,
No storm shakes w’at He has planned.
If He should change-O fearful thought-
The creations’ order into ruin brought;
The sun would stray and the moon fall,
The stars would forget their radiant call.
The galaxies would lose their way,
And night would swallow up the day;
The seasons falter, time would cease,
And chaos would shatter every peace.
But steadfast is our Creator above,
Unmoved in truth, unchanging love;
His heart of mercy beats the same,
His faithfulness, an endless flame.
Thru’ every age, thru’ joy and pain,
His compassion & love never wane;
What He has been, He still shall be-
The rock of salvation thru’ all eternity.
So blessed are we, secure & known,
Not left to wander lost, or be alone;
For in this world that shifts like sand,
We rest within His changeless hand.
