Mokokchung, July 18 (EMN): The Spearhead Motorsport Initiative (SMI), Mokokchung will be hosting a motorsport event “Throttle Thrust III” from August 2-3 at tourist village Longkhum in celebration of Tsungremmong Hornbill Festival, Mokokchung.
Speaking to media persons during a press conference at the treasurer resident, SMI officials said the event will have two formats of competition – Hill climb and Autocross under three categories: SUV, below 1300cc and above 1300cc.
SMI official also informed that Hill climb format is a first of its kind in Nagaland which will be hundred per cent tarmacs. Hill climb will cover a distance of 4 kilometres starting from NAP second gate, Alichen to Longkhum on day one while Autocross will be held at Longkhum local ground covering a distance of two kilometres on day two.
The flag-off event will be held at Imkongmeren Sports complex on August 2. The organisers are expecting participants from Assam, Meghalaya, and Delhi, besides competitors from across the state.
It was informed that Tongpang Ozukum Minister PWD is expected to attend the occasion on August 3 as the chief patron. The total cash prize for the winners would be up to INR 3 lakhs along with trophy and certificates.
Besides the competitions, the organiser has arranged cultural presentations, tour to tourist spots around the village; food and drinks stalls will be open adding more fervour to Tsungremmong festival.
Registration for the competition will be open from July 20. On spot registration and scrutiny will be done on August 1 from 10 am to 5 pm at Imkongmeren Sports Complex.
