DIMAPUR, MARCH 29
The Sazolie College, Jotsoma, has organized its second Annual Lecture on March 27, with Dr. Fr. Anand Periera, Rector, St. Paul’s Institutions, Phesama, as resource person. Speaking at the programme, Dr. Periera enlightened the students with a discourse on the meaning of Intelligence and dwelt on the varying methods and approaches propagated and used by different scholars to determine the intelligence of an individual. He also deliberated on the Theory of Multiple Intelligences which was proposed by Howard Gardner in his book, Frames of Mind (1983).
Stressing individually on the different levels or aspects of intelligences as presented in this theory, he urged the students to recognize their skills and develop them. He presented and suggested a wide array of professions from which the students could choose, depending on their skills. The students were challenged to believe in themselves and eliminate the words, ‘I cannot’, from their minds. While choosing their careers, he told them that they must have the right attitude and know their interests, capacity and values. “There are three kinds of people: People who make things happen, people who watch things happen and people who wonder what happened”, he added, and asked them to which category they belonged to.
After the lecture, Dr. Periera also interacted with the audience and responded to several queries.
The programme was chaired by Ms Bendangzenla Lkr, HoD (English), while Mr. Nzanthung Kikon (Chaplain), pronounced invocation. . Dr. Kangzangding Thou, Principal, gave the introductory speech. Spring and Rock Hostellers presented a special song.
