For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and the attitudes of the heart.

Hebrews 4:12.

The power of the Word has convicted and changed the lives of many. Those who do not have the knowledge of the Word will not know what the Word is. Some may assume it as words of wisdom and prophecy but it goes beyond that. The word significantly refers to the author of life. The way it is being described may sound confusing to some but only the ones who believes in it will know what it is. Here it particularly refers to what Christ is. Often many considers Christ as an sub-ordinate to God. But the truth is that He was there in the beginning and was with God in the beginning. Only the ones who had been redeemed will know why Christ had to come down to our (human) level to suffer for us. The outcome of the act of sacrifice is that He is now seated at the right hand of God. In addition to His glorification, we have also been promised that we will also share in His glory if we share in His sufferings. He is referred to as being born of God and that is what He is. The proof of the existence of Christ before the creation of the world is revealed in the sacred book where it says “ In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1. This undoubtedly confirms the divine sovereignty of Christ. If the skeptics still fail to grasp the truth, destruction will be theirs. But for those who has the knowledge of the Word should be transformed by it. Only those born of the Word will inherit the promises of the Word. Whenever we receive the truth of the Word, the power of it starts working in us through the Spirit. The words written in the Bible are the food for he soul. I wouldn’t have known what salvation was had it not been because of the Word. Something we see in this is that it is the key to life. Once we start accepting Jesus as our saviour, we start believing in His words. A student will not pass the examination without studying for it. In the same way a believer will not be saved unless he or she be born of the water and Spirit.Once we start believing in Jesus, the need for repentance convicts us from within. We experience conviction according to the degree of our faith. Once we start believing in the way of truth, the truth of the Word becomes our guide. Not everyone will experience the workings of the Spirit in the same way. The Spirit works in different ways but for the same purpose. It is clearly written in the Bible that the person who truly loves God will understand the mysteries of the Word. True conviction comes when genuine repentance stirs our hearts. Tears of remorse will flow from our eyes only when we are truly convicted by the Spirit. When the Spirit convicts us God speaks to us through His Word. Every written Word in the scripture becomes a source of inspiration to us. It makes known to us the purpose of the Scripture. Through it we get inspired to truly live for the cause. The truth of it exposes our weaknesses and our frailties. It warns us about the consequences of sin. The dictates of it becomes a way of life for us. And the truth of it becomes a lamp unto us. Only those who are strong in their faith will feel the power of it. And the blessings of it belongs only who believes in it and lives by it. Believe in the truth of it and you will receive the power of it. As members of His Church (Church of Christ) He desires that we be convicted by His words that we can be alive in His righteousness. As the Church of Christ keeps growing let us be what we should be. God wants it this way. Let His will be done in our lives that His purpose will be completed through us. Live it and you will love it.
