Mental health is important for the overall well-being of an individual. It is a crucial part of human life, as it helps the body to function properly. The importance of mental health education should be inculcated among youths as well as adults in schools, colleges, and even public institutions, because it helps a person to become aware of the importance of having good mental health and its significance in the functioning of one's own body.
Common mental health issues among teenagers as well as young adults include anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, etc., which in turn affect the growth and development of one's body, as well as bring negative impacts on the academic performance of a student. It is the duty of teachers and educators to help and support students' mental well-being. By creating a space, fostering open conversations about mental health, and connecting students with counselling services, teachers and educators can help them feel better, release their stress, and protect their mental health. To break the stigmas, we should normalise mental health discussions and collaborate effortlessly to support students' mental health.
There are some ways that will help in improving the mental health of an individual, especially in relationships; these include healthy boundaries, which mean setting limits to maintain emotional balance. Active listening and expressing emotions can lead to effective communication, which in turn helps in improving the mental health of an individual. Building strong relationships with family, friends, and mentors helps in creating a support system.
There are also many things that affect the mental health of an individual, such as the excessive use of mobile phones, tablets, computers, etc. To overcome poor mental health problems, one should manage screen time and social media usage, utilise mental health apps, forums, and support groups, and prevent oneself from cyberbullying by promoting kindness and respect.
Mental health in the workplace is also a very crucial part. To overcome or reduce poor mental health, one should manage stress and prioritise personal time, encourage mental health discussions and resources, and implement stress reduction strategies. Lastly, mental health and lifestyle are closely linked, meaning that good mental health can be achieved through exercise, eating healthy and nutritious food, and prioritising restful sleep.
In conclusion, mental health is vital for human life. Prioritising mental well-being, breaking stigmas, and creating supportive environments empower individuals to thrive.
