And he said to man, “ The fear of the Lord-that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding”. Job28:28
Every nation has a government and as their governments are so are their administrations. The rule of the government over nations are predestined and the ones in power will be accountable to the One who ordained them. In the earlier days kings and queens ruled over the people but in this present day the emergence of various government has brought about new systems of the concerned establishments. The communist, the democratic and the republic are the major forms of government which are active in the four corners of the world. The nation of India is democratic in nature, while China is a communist. On the other hand America is a Republic form of government whose influence are also a threat to Russia. The great nation of India is also at war with Nagaland, even as its fear of China is evidenced. Such is the state the world is in and every establishment stands not in awe of the other but in fear.
The bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima was the result of the Pearl Harbour attack, while the recently waged war in Syria is of a different nature. The now dead dictator of Libya Gadaffi struck in a moment and died in an instance. While Bashar Assad , the present head of Syria is managing quite well even in the midst of serious threats by the rebels and Islamic State alike. Since the policy of this leader favoured the Christians much, I believe it is God’s grace which is sustaining him thus far. Not all nations are governed by Christians but the governments which are must be more accountable. The emergence of every government are instances of God’s favor and I believe even Kim Jong Un the present President of North Korea is in power because of God’s grace. The world’s government has different policies and visions, even as their focus is to unite the world. The concerned establishments will either command or dictate and as their hearts are so will their deeds be.
The wealth of some nations are rich, while some poor, and if various comparisons are to be taken into account the issues will be many. The system of the world’s order are so diverse that in most of the leaders there are deceptions within. The different kind of administrations in every government are all God ordained and as it is sacred the ones in power must fear God. The theme of this article is not to discuss the issues relating the government’s establishments but to speak of their sins and their failures. The people’s plea to the government will be mostly development but the preacher’s command to them will be to fear God. The way the Apostle Paul conversed with the rulers of his time were marvelous and admirable. The conversations did not begin with accusations but Paul in his gentleness addressed them as ‘sirs’ even as he preached the message of the gospel to them. Though a prisoner, he was not spiritually and it was in boldness he preached. The scriptural account of Paul’s trail before Felix states “ Several days later Felix cane with his wife Drusilla, who was a Jewess. He sent for Paul and listened to him as he spoke about faith in Christ Jesus. As Paul discoursed on righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and said, That’s’ enough for now ! You may leave. When I find it convenient I will send for you. ( Acts 24:24,25 ) This also brings to an understanding of how even the government’s authorities fear God. The officers in charge of Christ ‘ crucifixion also marveled at the supernatural occurrences in the aftermath of his crucifixion. As far as their laws were concerned most of the Roman officials gave honor unto it.
However, in this issue it is not administration I want to discuss but the judgment which will befall sinners. The scripture decrees the destruction of the wicked and it is never God’s desire for the wicked to die in their sins but it is always God’s will for all to come to repentance. Concerning the wicked it is written “ But all sinners will be destroyed and the future of the wicked cut off”. ( Psalm 37:38 ) The Word will not fail in carrying out its sentences, for everything written in it are events which occurred and will occur. The dejected King Saul was rejected, while the officials who rebelled against Daniel were condemned along with their wives and children. If such is the greatness of God’s wrath, should rulers have b=no fear of God and continue in their sins? In the period of the Foundational Apostles a King by the name Herod, met his end in a terrible way. The account of it states “ Then Herod went from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there for awhile. He had been quarrelling with the people of Tyre and Sidon; they now joined together and sought an audience with him. Having secured the support of Blastus, a trusted personal servant of the King, they asked for peace, because they depended on the King’s country for their food supply. On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people. They shouted, “ This is the voice of a god, not a man.”Immediately, because Herod did not give praises to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died. But the word of God continued to increase and spread. ( Acts 12:19b-24 ) This was the same Herod who had James the brother of John put to death and kept Peter in prison with the intention to do the same to him too. The act of this ruler was so evil and in threatening Peter who was a man full of the Holy Spirit, had to meet his end in an undesirable way.
In the recent past, the state of Nagaland also created so many news with diverse issues such as treason, factions and even adultery plaguing the guilty ones. The scripture says all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and as it is written the law makes us conscious of it. ( Romans 3:20 ) The news from close sources reveals that the morality state of most ministers, bureaucrats and even government officials are on an extreme low. The sins of some of them are so wicked that even in having wives, they still commit adultery having less regard for the God who placed them in high positions. The personal secretaries and assistants of these ‘rulers’ will admit it, even as their close ones will. The prophet John the Baptist lost his head for preaching the truth against Herod’s adulterous affair with Herodias who was the wife of his brother ( he was still living ). Now listen to this: It is in the truth I write, as your acts are so will your conscience speak to you.Herod was guilty, the corrupted officials were not spared either, and neither will you be spared if you are to keep on investing in sin. The language of the word will always be against sin and if the sinners are to keep on heaping sin upon sin, destruction will surely come to them when they do not expect it. The law came into force because all sinned, for consciousness of sins wouldn’t be evidenced if there had been no law. Thus it is in the truth I write that even rulers must submit to God’s authority as I wrote in my earlier article “ The World’s Authority must submit to God’s Authority”. The truth has to be acknowledged and the good has to be accepted.Fix your eyes on this: As the Romans honored their constitutions much, the people of God must honor God more. The 1st Epistle of Timothy states “ We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. We also know that the law is not made for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers- and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me”. ( 1st Timothy 1:8-11 ) This speaks of conviction and the ones who honors God much will cry when they sin. So even in reference to the government and God’s people alike, the fear of the Lord must be revered. The God who judges everything will bring everything to judgment and to whom much is given much will be asked. The fear of God is preached even in this.
N:B: this article speaks of the evils which exist within the Government and it also brings to light the sins of various corporate workers. It is one thing to govern and another to sin. The truths in this message warns to Government to govern righteously and not to commit adultery. The warnings are on and so are the judgments . God is the Judge.
