
KOHIMA — 'The Dhobi House,' Nagaland's first premium dry cleaning and laundry services that specialises in cleaning Naga shawls and mekhala among other clothes, was inaugurated on Saturday.
Located at the New Secretariat area, ‘The Dhobi House’ offers services ranging from garments, bags, shoes, doormats, besides ethnic wears.

Naga ethnic wears like shawls and mekhala because they are very delicate and cannot treat them like other clothes. Toy informed that they have different sections solely for ethnic wears including a trained staff to handle the ethnic wears.
Toy shared that her childhood experience of spilling food during mealtimes and staining her dress inspired her to open the laundry service.
The 26-year-old entrepreneur boasts of using eco-friendly and vegan cleaning solutions made and sourced from Germany and Japan. The vegan solutions are used to remove hard stains. Besides garments and clothes, it also provide cleaning services for carpets, sofas, curtains, mats, bags and shoes.
“The team at ‘The Dhobi House’ is trained with certification from Indian Institute of Skill Development Training. It promotes women empowerment which is why all of the staff are women,” she informed.
The laundry factory is equipped with advanced industrial machines and CAM system that were brought from the South Indian state of Telangana.
While price depends from clothes to clothes, she said they wanted it to make pocket friendly budget.
Earlier Zajamo Odyuo, youth pastor at City Church Kohima, said the dedicatory prayer for the new laundry service.
