The 2016 Air Rifle Shooting Competition was held on January 16 at Kigwema Ground, Kholera. Nipano Yakhro, former women's champion emerged as the winner again in 2016 in the women's category while Kelesieno Khora attained the second position. In the men's category, Medozeto Yano won the first position and Tepfuvile Phira came second.

The Air Rifle Shooting Competition in Kigwema is held once in two years during the Wrestling Meet. With an objective to reduce hunting, the competition is organised for both men and women to promote air rifle as a sport competition.
