Dimapur, June 22 (EMN): The governor of Nagaland PB Acharya and wife Kavita Acharya visited the Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home, on June 22 in Kohima. The governor’s office issued a press release to the media on Saturday informing about the visit of the couple.
Interacting with the children of the home, Governor Acharya stated that “everyone was equal,” the press release stated. He was said to have urged the children at the home to enrich their knowledge by reading books and studying hard.
That way, they can stand on their own once the time for them to do so comes, the press release stated.
“Know your goals and work towards achieving it,” Acharya said. The governor also talked about the importance of skill development and skill courses.
Reminding of a “saturation point” in the government sector in regard to employment, the governor encouraged the children to be ready to engage in entrepreneurship and skill-related jobs.
“No work is small and work is worship,” the press release quoted him as having said.
To the management of the orphanage, Governor Acharya urged them to “know the need of the society and to guide the children in the right path.”
Acharya congratulated the Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home for giving a home and family to the children.
Kavita Acharya interacted with the children there, the updates stated. During her interaction with the children, she encouraged them to be supportive with one another and to be helpful among themselves. She also told the children a story, the updates stated.
The director of the Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home, Neibanuo, gave a brief history of their home, to the visiting dignitary, the press release stated. There are currently 93 children living with them, she said.
Over the years, she told the couple and visitors, children who have left the home have managed to stand on their own and supporting themselves well.
The couple donated groceries and vegetables to the orphanage, the press release added.
